How Energy Converter Works
The joule is the SI base unit for energy that every other unit is converted through. A calorie equals exactly 4.184 joules, and a kilowatt-hour — the unit your electricity bill is measured in — equals 3,600,000 joules. Your input is multiplied by its own factor to get joules, then divided by each other unit's factor to fill out the full set of results.

Helpful Tips
- Nutrition labels usually say "calories" but actually mean kilocalories (1 kcal = 1,000 cal) — this converter keeps the two separate so you can convert whichever one you actually have.
