How Image Resizer Works

The image is drawn onto an HTML canvas at your chosen dimensions using the browser's built-in scaling, then exported back to an image file for download. Nothing is uploaded — the whole process runs in your browser tab.

How to Use This Tool

  1. Choose or drag in an image.
  2. Enter a new width and/or height in pixels — with Lock aspect ratio checked, the other dimension updates automatically.
  3. Select Resize to preview the result.
  4. Select Download to save the resized image.

Example

A 3000×2000px photo resized to a width of 1200px (with aspect ratio locked) automatically becomes 1200×800px — the same 3:2 proportions, just smaller.

Helpful Tips

  • Uncheck Lock aspect ratio only if you intentionally want to stretch or squash the image.
  • Resizing up (making an image larger than its original size) will look softer, since the tool can't invent detail that isn't there.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my image uploaded to a server?
No, the resize happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API — the image file never leaves your device.
What image formats are supported?
You can upload JPG, PNG or WebP images, and the downloaded file keeps the same format as the original.
Will resizing reduce image quality?
Making an image smaller is generally lossless in terms of sharpness; making it larger than the original can look blurry since no new detail is created.

This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your input is not uploaded to any server.
